🚀 Groq Secures $1.5 Billion Commitment from Saudi Arabia: Leader in LPU chips closed a massive deal for AI inference infrastructure

What are LPUs you might ask?

LPUs (language processing units) are specially designed ASIC chips for running AI models. They differ from GPUs by being highly specialized. And because of the specialization, they're able to run specific models much faster and much cheaper than a GPU.

It describes how these bills can potentially crush not only AI innovation within the respective states, but across the country. Luckily, New Jersey has not made this list yet. 🐁👊 🐘 Deepscaler Launch: The launch of DeepScaler out of UC Berkeley is incredibly impressive. They've fine-tuned a version of DeepSeeks Distilled R1 model based off of Qwen 1.5 billion parameter model in order to beat OpenAI's O1 preview — and it actually does! To put the parameter size difference in perspective, that's like a mouse beating an elephant in a fistfight.

🤖 Jersey City Robot Delivery: You can now get your food delivered by robots in Jersey City via Uber Eats! Very cool to see how AI interacts with the real world via these robots.

🛥️ DeepLake: An OpenAI deep research alternative that is also able to reason on top of your private data. The results look pretty good so far.
